While capable to building furniture in any style or materials Todd is heavily inspired by the Brutalist movement and his work tends to be based on simple geometric forms, emphasizing the overall structure and carefully chosen wood grain over intricate joinery or details. His favorite medium is veneer over MDF cores as it allows for the creation of large, stable forms, gravity-defying cantilevers and strong — yet relatively lightweight — construction.
For those unfamiliar with the use of veneers this website does a good job of explaining the pros and cons of veneering.
I often design and build one of a kind pieces based upon specific lots of veneer I come across and use my blog as a way of publicizing the various lots I acquire. If you see a wood you like, please contact me to see if it is still available and let me know what project you have in mind.
